Privacy Policy for Mate

Mate ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the Mate mobile application handles information when you use the app.

1. Information We Handle

Mate may handle the following categories of information, depending on which features you use:

- Profile information you enter, such as your name, preferences, health conditions, and app settings.
- Health and wellness information you enter, such as symptoms, medication reminders, water logs, mood entries, herbal care selections, tasks, and chat content.
- Calendar data, only if you choose to grant calendar access and ask Mate to create calendar events.
- Microphone audio and speech recognition input, only if you choose to use voice features.
- Notification preferences and reminder schedules used to send local reminders on your device.

2. How Information Is Used

Mate uses information only to provide the app’s features, including:

- Managing tasks, reminders, pills, water logs, and wellness entries.
- Supporting chat and on-device assistant features.
- Creating calendar events at your direction.
- Enabling speech input and voice responses.
- Sending local notifications and reminders.

3. On-Device Processing

Mate is designed to process core app data on your device.

Chat and offline AI features are intended to run locally on the device using a bundled on-device model. Information you enter into Mate is not sent to our servers for AI processing.
AI Processing (Llama)

Mate uses an on-device AI model (Llama) bundled in the app.
We do not send user data to our servers or any third‑party AI service, and we do not call external AI APIs for AI processing.
Because nothing is transmitted, there is no external vendor storage or retention of user data; data stays on the user’s device (subject to Apple/iCloud device backups).

4. Data Storage

Information you enter into Mate is stored locally on your device. We do not currently require you to create an account, and we do not currently maintain a cloud account system for storing your personal data on our servers.

Because data is stored on your device, it may also be included in device backups managed by Apple, depending on your personal device and iCloud backup settings.

5. Permissions

Mate may request access to the following device features:

- Microphone: to capture voice input when you use speech features.
- Speech Recognition: to convert your speech into text.
- Calendar: to create events when you ask Mate to schedule something.
- Notifications: to send reminder notifications that you configure.

You can deny these permissions or revoke them later in your device Settings.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing.

We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the current version of Mate, to the best of our current implementation.

Information may be processed by Apple-provided system frameworks when you use platform features such as Speech Recognition, Calendar, Notifications, and device backup services, subject to Apple’s own terms and privacy practices.

7. Data Retention

Because Mate stores data locally on your device, your information remains on your device until you delete it, remove it within the app, or uninstall the app.

If you uninstall Mate, locally stored app data is generally removed from the device, except to the extent it may remain in device backups under Apple’s backup policies.

8. Your Choices

You can:

- Edit or delete information you entered in the app.
- Disable permissions in iOS Settings.
- Disable notifications in iOS Settings.
- Stop using the app and uninstall it at any time.

9. Children’s Privacy

Mate is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Medical Disclaimer

Mate provides wellness, organizational, and educational support only. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, or emergency services. Always seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional for medical concerns.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the effective date above.
